Tenerife, the paradise of nature lovers

Tenerife, the largest and most populated island of the seven Canary Islands, is all about landscapes. Regardless if you choose to visit the northern part of the island or the more touristic southern one, you will encounter breathtaking sceneries and joyful people, ready to make your stay the most welcoming.

Costa Adeje

Because of the sunny weather, I decided to visit the southern part of Tenerife. Therefore, I settled my camp in Costa Adeje, one of the three major southern resorts (alongside Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos).

Sheraton La Caleta Resort & Spa has been my host in Costa Adeje (http://www.sheratonlacaleta.com/en). This is an elegant hotel, with a private beach, where I had a wonderful stay. The hotel is right next to the ocean, it is surrounded by tropical gardens and it has 3 swimming pools to choose from, in case you find the beach to be too rocky.

There are a lot of fun activities to do near Costa Adeje. Spending part of your holiday at the beach is at hand, as many beautiful beaches can be found in or near Costa Adeje, such as Playa Del Duque or Playa Fanabe. Also, Siam Park, a Thai-themed water park, is near and it is appreciated by the numerous tourists visiting it.

Other attractions in Tenerife

If you are interested in exploring the rest of the island, the easiest way to do that is to rent a car and stop each time a new beautiful landscape opens in front of your eyes. I enjoyed visiting Mount Teide, known for having the tallest peak in Spain. You should know that you may get close to it effortlessly, by taking the cable car from the bottom.

Barranco Del Infierno ("Hell’s Canion") is also located in the southern park of Tenerife. Be prepared to be amazed by the wonderful scenery this area provides. A hikers’ paradise and a great escape zone for all nature lovers, Barranco Del Infierno should not be missed while in Tenerife. However, only 300 persons per day are allowed in this protected area, hence prior booking is a must.

Also, you could spend a day at Loro Parque, an impressive zoo of 13.5-hectares, placed in the northern part of Tenerife.

Last, but not least, visit Los Gigantes Cliffs (“Cliffs of the giants”), a natural landmark which towers over 500 meters above the Atlantic Ocean. The best way to admire it is from the numerous oceanfront restaurants in Los Gigantes town.
